Changeling

Take all that I am
I have nothing more left to give
"Be strong" ... is clanging
Abide and hide secrets that live

The schoolyard and field are empty
Tether-game chains resonate chime
Funny thing, is time
Funny thing, is time

Cold, shaking fingers cannot play
Swings and slides wait for tiny hands
No one understands
No one understands

I've met some like you
Familiar, fatherly-strangeling
But numbness saved me
And released this, darkly changeling

Stoical daughter has come home
Shivering, little girl has grown
Raggedy memories remain
Metal maypoles, streamers of chain
Unsettled, lingering refrain

And no one really knows ... the child who comes and goes

Dahlia Lullaby

Oh, out of sight, out of mind
No, I never had a chance
And I leave it all behind
Parting the past and future
To an orange tinseled sky
Loops of tangerine go down
Low, dejected thoughts must have their say
They did today ... and ... they did today

I'm sorry for believing
I'm sorry for young ideas
Blind love can waste perceiving
For selfishness, then repent
My discipline follows me
Hollowing ambitions hang
Floating, as wistful clouds stray
To an orange tinseled sky
Loops of tangerine go down
Low, dejected thoughts must have their say
They did today ... and ... they did today

You never knew me at all
What a sadness to defy
I uplift and free this carry
Floating, as wistful clouds stray
To an orange tinseled sky
Loops of tangerine go down
Low, dejected thoughts must have their say
They did today ... and ... they did today

(Goodnight, may conclusion ease heartache)
(Goodnight, may new dreaming mend with make)

Labyrinthine

Sweet spot-electric,... when you enter the room
The world is yours,... I'm all yours to consume
Immerse me completely midst nightshade in bloom
Deadly kiss, absinthe of impassioned perfume

I'm feeling euphoric and sacrificial
For liaison-exquisite, sharp as a thistle

Labyrinthine, dangerously tender
You're contradiction, dominant surrender

Passively aggressive, control my desire
Shall epiphany pang with magnetic fire?
Strike ... unapologetic, epic empire
Ma fee verte,... wake me, make me inquisitive
Love come take me,... la petite mort, vampire

Sweet spot-electric,... when you enter the room
The world is yours,... I'm all yours to consume

I'm feeling euphoric and sacrificial
For liaison-exquisite, sharp as a thistle

(Can't get enough of you, can't get enough of you)
(Deadly kiss, absinthe, control my desire)
(L'amour viens me prendre, la petite mort, vampire)

Moonlust

Aria shouldn't know such mourn
Aria shouldn't knell such guard
But underneath
Black, lacy sheath
Be a rock rose, weary and scarred

Patchouli, melancholy, moonlust mist
Could ravage the throb, beating from your wrist

But if you love her
She would die for you
She won't let you go
You won't want her to
(twin flame, mate of ... life,... love is forever)

Chase shouldn't flaunt temerity
Chase shouldn't betray mesmerize
When moonblood drips
Dulcet eclipse
Be a she wolf with Gothic eyes

Patchouli, melancholy, moonlust mist
Could ravage the throb, beating from your wrist

But if you love her
She would die for you
She won't let you go
You won't want her to
(twin flame, mate of ... life, ... love is forever)

Simplicity

Complications are overrated
I've hated
Every promise made carelessly
Easily
Thrown away
In patronizing, moody mind game
That's a shame

Complications are overrated
I've waited
For magnitude of simplicity
Clarity
Love for love
Condition less, effortless, unfeigned
Souls unchained

We're so into each other
No one else could understand
How real,... safe and sound it feels
With slightest touch of your hand

The walls ... dissolve
The walls ... dissolve

I won't take (my turn) for granted
Hesitating, disenchanted

No one gets me like you do
(and you do)
(you do)
(you do)

Sepia

The cracks are showing
Drawn, distressed tones now shape our meaning
Slinging us closer to black and white

As worn, paper hearts
We've morphed to diluted entity
Naive fragments poised for benight

An old photograph
Would-be better half
Seems strange,... place and time
I don't recognize
Anything ... anymore
What was it all for?
(Nothingness love,... where did we go wrong?)
(Nothingness love,... shadowy swan song)

The cracks are showing
Bleary routine captures, dye is cast
Amassed with the death of empathy

Tattered, paper hearts
Jaded well beyond a single doubt
Burned-out keepsake is last certainty

An old photograph
Would-be better half
Seems strange,... place and time
I don't recognize
Anything ... anymore
What was it all for?
(Nothingness love,... where did we go wrong?)
(Nothingness love,... shadowy swan song)

Marilyn

A girl can put her on
Spray her on, like perfume (number five)
She's not all I am
I made her,... fragile fantasy
A girl can call her up, from inside
(Marilyn)

I'm not a hollow joke for temporary flings
Shelter, protection ... a girl needs affection
Why is it wrong for me to have those things?

Doesn't a father want care for his little girl?
Pretty and beaming, I'll try to be pleasing
Maybe, I'm too sensitive for this world

Heels, stockings, hourglass figure,... yummy, red delicious lips
Pout, smile, laugh,... pivot, pose,... bring life to the scripts
Whistle, point, shoot (Bang!),... hands playfully defiant on the hips
Lashes drawn half way, just a peek, arched brow (Wow!)
Pink gloves ... brush, stroke,... left-right ... swing, sway (Ok, Ciao!)
Snap my picture
(but can you see me ... can you see me?)

Diamonds won't keep me warm at night
I want to be held with love and light

In the end ...
Will I be cold, in bed, and alone,
Grieving silent tears, clutching the phone?
(why? ... say goodbye, sigh ... say goodbye)
(no return, no return, no return)

Will I sleep 'neath chiffon, gowned in green?
Will I,... everything have been a dream?
(the longest on screen walk away)
(I think that's just elegant)
(I think that's just elegant)

Thank you ever so, sugar and kisses
I wonder if anyone ... misses ... me
Don't you know ...
A star just wants to twinkle
(in your eyes)
Can you see me?
(find me, love me)
A star just wants to twinkle
(find me, love me)

the loss of the minority rights belonging to

Winter Wren

I left Summer and went to Winter
From the West, traveling to the East
With colder ground, the grass did splinter
Blades of frost spiked, where green luster ceased

Some faces stared as elder-strangers
Their expressions chiseled out lifelines
They've known their share of strife and dangers
Harken wisdom blighted view defines

My breath fogged the bleak and flurried air
My stinging hands cracked with chafing wring
The land slept neath a harvest gone bare
Yet the mighty spruce and fir did sing

Town lights curled pine cone wreaths and bows
Night twinkle kept time with distant song
Shoppes, taverns and holly trimmed windows
Lay like blinking stars, briskly grown long

Each doorframe donned a mistletoe sprig
And welcomed with scent of toddy spice
Warmth met chocolate, candy cane and fig
While wooded serenade rang thrice

White dust blew across sidewalks and streets
The dark sky sprayed hurried, wider shed
Ole Blue Norther heaves as sashay sleets
For to palace stormy, snowy spread

My footsteps braved the kindred path chose
I left the festive and fragrant mood
By garland and hearth, I found repose
So missed and so wishfully pursued

From the dawn, a shy sun was peeking
Once more, I heard a tireless tune
Jealous crow caws milled around, shrieking
Envious of notes, crafted for June

I left the West for an Eastward roam
For some peace I could cherish again
And in my soul, I know I've come home
Blest by the crest calling Winter Wren
