Moonchild

Burnin' heart, blue fire, sapphire deep
(Still waters?) - not hardly,... but hard currents
Pressed doubt, push and pull, the climb out is steep
Spat upon a rock, empty dock, nighthawk
(Shell-shocked, through and through)

How low ... must I go,
... grieve enough, (paralyzed) - by you?
How high ... must I fly,
... leave, (the ostracized) - soar anew?
Because I'm not given the choice for belonging

Black ice eyes, wiser in reprise, yeah tense
'Cause some feel, need to slam ya down a peg
- Then say 'lighten up',... good luck finding sense
They're extreme, silence or scream, no between
(Their way or nothing)

How low ... must I go,
... grieve enough, (paralyzed) - by you?
How high ... must I fly,
... leave, (the ostracized) - soar anew?
Because I'm not given the choice for belonging

Wintersong (Frost from Fire)

How is it, we've wasted (love) away?
We've tasted (us), then let time enter fray
Once a haven,... once a safe retreat
Warm inside each other, alive with heat

We've gone to our knees, at the crossroads
- Our Wintersong, where try meets tire
There's a coldness of loss settling
Ingathering tears chill,... frost from fire

Flames doused
Drenched ignite
No shelter, from the pall and merciless bite
- Stinging our eyes, stinging our eyes (frozen)
Delivering long days ... of shivering night

We've gone to our knees, at the crossroads
- Our Wintersong, where try meets tire
There's a coldness of loss settling
Ingathering tears chill,... frost from fire

Marionette

Toyer of fraught emotions
Destroyer without regret
Make me jump, (oh, how high?), paint my smile
Tug me, twist me, prance and pirouette

I followed you like a rag doll
- Your marionette, choked by strings
I gave you all ... I had, all I was
And lost myself, for your everything

It's so confusing
- The way I feel ... dead inside
Sever soon will snap
With recoil of what has died
Our love, our love, no encore
Collapsing spotlight,... fade out, the end

Watch me go, watch the fleeting memories
- Be enamored by the will for change
Strong enough to move on without you
- That must be a stunner, slice of strange

The Guy Next Door

He's like a shock rocker
But a barely there talker
Some say a skinwalker
What do they know, as if their prim souls are clean

And the devil may dance
In his black bedroom, by chance
Midnight groove, happenstance
Radio, fist pumpin', blood-curdlin' machine

He's just your average (spooky) guy next door
He's just your average (spooky) guy next door

Each neighbor's a creeper
Voyeur, window sill peeper
They think he's the reaper
Salivating gossip, as an asp hisses

Nonconformist with styles
Raunchy rev, skidmark defiles
But every daughter smiles
He sends up a wave ... but fathers see kisses

He's just your average (spooky) guy next door
He's just your average (spooky) guy next door

And the devil may dance
In his black bedroom, by chance
Midnight groove, happenstance
Radio, fist pumpin', blood-curdlin' machine

He's just your average (spooky) guy next door
He's just your average (spooky) guy next door

Gray Garden

The shadow season nears
Sunflowers and sun dance disappears
Tumbling, absence of light
And leaves trickle down without color
Ladies stroll by, with their cavaliers

Time passes and turns cold
Moments, hours, days to years grown old
I held onto wishes
But Autumn breezes blow them away
Love - come ... tell me about forever
Your medley of hues, airbrushing the gray

Swaying trees line the lane
Genteel march, souls remain
Enraptured,.. like fragile, paper dolls
They capture my heart with beautiful pain

(Love - tell me ... no wish is forgotten)

Liar's Moon

Buckin' for attention
Fishin', huntin'
Wanderlust flirt
Repeating testimony
No one gets hurt
Angling across the surface of their eyes
Love is the lure, bait sugar-coated lies
You got a good thing goin', catchy line
Don't let 'em compare and you'll be just fine

Call 'em one in a million, solid strike
It's a shadow tactic but they won't know
Mind games, (shame ... on you), practice makes a pro

Then a night comes,... neon Angel, rival
Prowlin', primal, better than you can give
You'll find turnabout hits you where you live

Walkin' past pet names and stale jukebox tune
Pivot the liar's moon-player with deal
- On to someone else, in the room, that's real

Oh, love ...
It doesn't have to be perfect
But it must be real

Note:
Wrote this after running across something
I hadn't read for many years ...
(sorry, I don't know the Author)
A quote [or poem] as follows -
"A lover's moon soars clear and bright,
guiding true love throughout the night.
But a liar's moon lurks misty and gray,
scheming to drive true love away."

(Here) I didn't make reference to "she" or "he"
(at times, try not to) because that can restrict
the writing ... for the reader.
[theme can be a man's or woman's point of view ]
- Different readers, different situations

'And no one really knows
... the child who comes and goes'
(from Changeling - Kay Irvin)
