Crystalline

Star child, something in your eyes that shine
Long ago, once as mine, crystalline
But life took it away (gone away)

So many footsteps
So many teardrops
Oh, the confusion
Asking when it stops

Just a soft, slow place
Home that resonates
Time heals but time kills
Our story creates

Star child, something in your eyes that shine
Long ago, once as mine, crystalline
But life took it away (gone away)

Wanting some beauty
Tethered with anchor
And 'neath all that weight
Also tows anger

Like wearing thistles
It's a bloody mess
Dragging destruction
Clouded to digress

Star child, something in your eyes that shine
Long ago, once as mine, crystalline
But life took it away (gone away)

It's a depressing world, someone once said
I think it was me
When the day fell to a night that was dead
A million sorrows played Hell with my head

Star child, something in your eyes that shine
Long ago, once as mine, crystalline
But life took it away (gone away)

We don't always have a choice
We don't always have a voice
But our space makes a difference anyway

Recipe For Hope

The ingredients to aspire are tricky
Positiveness, though the better consideration
- should be only a dash,
While caution should be in heaps
Measurement is everything

Bloody Kisses

And when I'm hanging by a thread
He comes to me, through my sleep, by my bed
His sugar ... whispers through my head
Bloody kiss and hue, as his eyes of red

Lonely nights when the breeze brings chill
Day's flitting songbirds slumber hush and still
Cobwebs vine, dew shine fragile twill
Ivy shimmers down, 'round the window sill

Silver mesh, taut as fitted sleeve
I've trusted seldom few,... hearts do deceive
Sewn into that spidery weave
- I long for love I may never believe

Just his phantom, just burning frame
Just this thread of hope that knows not a name
Bloody kisses that caress flame
But I want more than dream and endless game

Lyric

I gave birth to a child, I named, 'Lyric'
It was an intricate labor
- Induced by love, part of me
And the scalpel was a quill
The blood spilled was ink
Parchment lent to the swaddling,
... held to my bosom and heart
- A heart we shared, beats and rhythm
Love, beauty, hope, lambency and warmth
But also torment, anger, pain and darkness
Same eyes, same soul - A mirror of truth
And though my womb be empty
My dreams are full

Still I Rise

Low is the light
Radiance slight
Where to this mired, tired spirit lies
Darkness sired chamber, midst my eyes
Still I rise

Struggle covers
Sadness hovers
Above, around, smothering skies
Blackness comes, coloring reprise
Still I rise

Conflict and crumble
Unseen scars, new rave
Buckle or rumble
Blitz, pin, counter brave

Take it all in
Play it to win
Enough maelstrom, enter surprise
Midnight Anthem, checkmate replies
Still I rise
The Queen Dance
And I rise
Still I rise

Datura

Your heart, your dreams ... (lamb), you give so willing
Your book of shadows and darkly quill did wing invite
Grimoire scribe sought a dark lover, thrilling
- Chilling disenchantment away,... (Mistress of the night)

Starry eyes are watching, moonblood drips slow
Wolf song strikes furious to a witches' brew (lament)
And her black gown turns the corner chateau
Was she really there, where petals cradle nightwish scent?

Pale moonflower, as alabaster stone
You've long hallucinated her deadly desire
Intoxicated (never be alone)
Crepuscule muse,... and vespertine presence can inspire

Your heart, your dreams ... (lamb), you give so willing
Your book of shadows and darkly quill did wing invite
Grimoire scribe sought a dark lover, thrilling
- Chilling disenchantment away,... (Mistress of the night)

She's narcotic nightwish, moondust Mistress
(lamb), taste evening fragrance with her kiss
(lamb), taste evening fragrance with her kiss

Side note -
Datura 'Evening Fragrance'; vespertine flowering plant, known
As Angel's Trumpets, also sometimes called Moonflowers.
The (datura) white flowers bloom at night, unfurl slowly
And resemble the moon.
They have an intoxicating, narcotic (perfume) scent.
Datura belongs to the classic "witches' weeds," along with
Deadly Nightshade, Henbane and Mandrake.
Datura has been used as a poison and hallucinogen.
- An essential ingredient of love potions and witches' brews

Beloved

Love, if I can't find you here
Maybe on the other side
I can feel you, I sense you
Sometimes I think I hear you calling
Through nightmares
Where my fear and fight collide
Telling me to wake
Telling me ... "don't break"
Lingering the deep
I brave reckless sleep
To reach past screams, to unmask dreams
For the ghost I've wed
Beloved
Forever

Most others have settled down
Others have matched peace and fate
I can feel you, I sense you
Sometimes I think I catch your shadow
Through lost days
Where my soul searches for mate
Stirring with the trees
Stirring with the breeze
You're the only one
Sentio cor meum
Feel me with you, I am ghost too
For the haunting led
Beloved
Forever

Love, in this life or on the other side
Sentio cor meum
Semper et in aeternum
Into all time

Found within each other
Bound within each other
My love
In omne tempus
Into all time

(c) Kay Irvin

Translation (latin):
[from my understanding and as I intended, here]
Sentio cor meum - Feel my heart
Semper et in aeternum - Always and Forever
In omne tempus - Into all time

~13 ~

I dreamt of Midnight turning to the thirteenth hour.
I dreamt of thirteen candles and thirteen, black flowers.
I walked past thirteen windows and entered the thirteenth hall,
Where a calendar, marked thirteen, suspended the wall.

Thirteen black cats perched on thirteen, high, wooden rafters.
They taunted prowling wolves with their slow, purring laughter.
Thirteen footsteps, I took, to consider this story.
The view was surreal with all its fictional glory.
But on this thirteenth slumber of the thirteenth, same dream,
Some sanely truth was offered from the madness that seem.

I heard a clock chime with thirteen, long, lingering bells
And I envied this theme with its corridors of spells.
Onward, I awoke to the reality of dawn
And the peculiar kingdom of illusion was gone.
I reckoned with each to decide the strangest of place
And found that the factual and dream parallel pace.
