Nightfall

When will this long Summer end?
The sunlight has not been a friend
I wait for darkness,... to descend

In the stillness
In the shadows
There is a truth
When hurry slows
Pale, distant lights
Soft wind may call
But just a name
Into nightfall

Pictures and memories burn
They've taken enough, had their turn
Something new is easy to yearn

Time passed, still much is ahead
It won't own me or be mislead
When only a whisper's been said

I'll be here, when echoes come through,
Without fear, as the seasons change
I'll be closer to finding you

In the stillness
In the shadows
There is a truth
When hurry slows
Pale, distant lights
Soft wind may call
But just a name
Into nightfall

Necromancer

I.
Not a tempest in a teapot
But distant plane, some have forgot
And it won't do, and it won't do
I call forth the shadows,... peer through

II.
Hello or good bye, yes or no
Planchette is placed, chalice Bordeaux
And with a heart-shaped, little plank
Welcome from world, vast and dank

III.
Eleven : eleven blesses
Hazel eyes and raven tresses
Our thirteenth chime awaits nearby
Yes or no, hello or good bye

IV.
Spark the candle, lend to my voice
Spectral portal, tend with your choice
Let me be your enchanted host
Show me the things, you covet most

V.
Memories, recorded vision
Lightning strike, be your incision
To this side and ready wonder
By flesh, blood and steady thunder

VI.
Tell your tale and well, I shall scribe
Prolific journals, sweet imbibe
Slate poised, unrehearsed sessions
Sate my thirst, unriddle questions

VII.
Beyond life, death and mortal coil
The folds of time, unearthly soil
Flotsam souls, mine to thine now merge
Old and kindred, shared lonesome dirge

VIII.
Terror-spurned from your window's sash
Perhaps others would dread and dash
Whose niche is that of a jackal
Aging, sure as youth will crackle

IX.
But I invoke thee, bring cold swirls
Fling opulent orbs, dancing pearls
We live but shells, reckoning task
Beckoning quench of unknown cask

X.
Vent, weep, whisper, scream and opine
Slither, unwither, serpentine
Unleash,... I beseech, unravel
Crawl from secrets, splay the gravel

XI.
What say you, what of portent dares ?
What descent creaks upon the stairs ?
Disconnected stride, bid token
Enter, center bide, unbroken

XII.
Unveil what cannot be unseen
Strip the night, unto toll, thirteen
Whatsoever pitch envelop
Free, clear as portraits develop

XIII.
I call forth shadows, touch my veins
Love and care, without harm nor chains
Exodus, black room, sheltered gloam
If so inclined, make here, your home

Redbud Song

Avondale hills, his gentle violin -
Haunts the days, grown heavy and long
And time's temperamental as sloe gin
I hold my love, dear, deep and strong
Blackthorn, bittersweet, sad to part
Take to heart, mine beats to see you
Starling - follow and carry Redbud song
(I hold my love, dear, deep and strong)

Scissortail, gone past the front porch window -
Westward, where the horses stroll white clover
Labor conquers all things but now meadow -
Cradles the wind and toil is over
(He will fill moonlight with music again)

Chain link fences, shabby barns, honey hives
Cool, Summer creek, peaches and cream
Slow rosin - he makes sweetness come alive
Home - bring him to me, liken dream
Country back roads, picturesque gem
Nightwish - songbird sent, wing and crest
Shooting star - don't leave my eyes half agleam
(Home - bring him to me, liken dream)

Gemini Night

Love the night, hate the night
Bite my lip, sting and feeling so right
Pierce, warm and elusive
It's temperamental blade
Baby, it cuts both ways

Extreme good, extreme bad
Wind me up, keep me high, black-steel-clad
Time's a double-edged sword
Blood and tears, hot and cold
Baby, let slow graze stroll

Evocative, little secrets scoff
Their potion-like pressures set you off
Forget guilt, get lost and seize that hilt
Dual, inhibitions flow
Make a minx, take a doe

Tomorrow you can forgive yourself
Pleasure and pain surrenders from stealth
Alter-ego, spirited Gemini
How both sides, each deny
How both sides, each deny

Candles

And I can still see you standing in front of me
Maybe I always will
Maybe it's just one of those things that softly kill

Life, it's what you dream, then what it actually is
Full of kisses and scars
Void the bad with candles of solace, lit like stars

Ominous clouds are brewing outside my window
But I love the thunder
Do you think about me? ... (I have a sick wonder)

And I can still see you standing in front of me
Maybe I always will
Maybe it's one of those things that softly kill

(Disappointments)
My mind wanders
Night is with me
Take my darkness
Please, hold me tight
- while candles burn
(while candles burn)
(while candles burn)

Datura

Your heart, your dreams ... (lamb), you give so willing
Your book of shadows and darkly quill did wing invite
Grimoire scribe sought a dark lover, thrilling
- Chilling disenchantment away,... (Mistress of the night)

Starry eyes are watching, moonblood drips slow
Wolf song strikes furious to a witches' brew (lament)
And her black gown turns the corner chateau
Was she really there, where petals cradle nightwish scent?

Pale moonflower, as alabaster stone
You've long hallucinated her deadly desire
Intoxicated (never be alone)
Crepuscule muse,... and vespertine presence can inspire

Your heart, your dreams ... (lamb), you give so willing
Your book of shadows and darkly quill did wing invite
Grimoire scribe sought a dark lover, thrilling
- Chilling disenchantment away,... (Mistress of the night)

She's narcotic nightwish, moondust Mistress
(lamb), taste evening fragrance with her kiss
(lamb), taste evening fragrance with her kiss

Side note -
Datura 'Evening Fragrance'; vespertine flowering plant, known
As Angel's Trumpets, also sometimes called Moonflowers.
The (datura) white flowers bloom at night, unfurl slowly
And resemble the moon.
They have an intoxicating, narcotic (perfume) scent.
Datura belongs to the classic "witches' weeds," along with
Deadly Nightshade, Henbane and Mandrake.
Datura has been used as a poison and hallucinogen.
- An essential ingredient of love potions and witches' brews

Nocturne

The sparkling moonlight hesitates
Clouds scarcely sketch lilac
The invisible moves and waits
'Neath velvet skies of black

And I am the hunter, I am the prey
I am the wolf, I am the lamb (I am)

His eyes are blue ... baby, ice blue
But warm impulse is led
Blood and fire create a brew
Crimson, red ... baby, red

I am the hunter and I am the prey
I am the wolf and I am the lamb
If there is heartbreak for me to know
Let it come ... from one ... so beautiful
Ravenous and willing, I will go
(catch my wink ... if you ... offer up the same)

Death (dream life) ... baby,... life (dream death)
Who will be the sleeper?
Lovely pensiveness, take my breath
Shades of gray call deeper

If I grasp only a shadow and you do not exist
Know, I will disappear and be the unseen, unknown ...(*kiss*)

I am the hunter and I am the prey
I am the wolf and I am the lamb
If there is heartbreak for me to know
Let it come ... from one ... so beautiful
Ravenous and willing, I will go
(catch my wink ... if you ... offer up the same)

Witchy Night

The wolfhounds pace near the fireside
And to the window's depth, they peer
They're restless as a phantom's bide
And stride the edginess that's here

This heightened feeling, the time comes
Count the lightning to thunder's roar
And crystal bright and pound of drums
Bear round the gable arch with pour

Chime sends a warn throughout the air
But arc bends dark to dark, threefold
The wolfhounds take to guard this lair
I wake the unknown and untold

This heightened feeling, time rages
Count the lightning to thunder's roar
Crystal bright, pound of drum wages
Numb bound this truth I can't ignore

It's time I feel
Do what you will

This long night, this place
Fills and circles a symphony
This space, this coldness
Chills me through with cruel tragedy
How your devilry crept, laughing
I was napping every sign
I feel your honeyed kiss, your touch
Press against flesh that isn't mine
The salt is bitter from my tears
While nectar is sweet on your tongue
I know I'm not the only one
And flows the circle's symphony
I feel your heart depart from me
My love's released from jaded stitch
My soul's seen you, night of the witch

Valentine

Ever mine, ever gothic romantic
Graced paper lace and Winter violin
Frosted hearts wake frantic
(I keep you)
When the parlor light is slightest hue
I am elusive touch that sweeps your skin

Desire closed cold as frozen flowers
Ice kissed, wondering if love's saint forgot
Now home unfolds the hours
(I keep you)
When candles spindrift embrace anew
I am lyrical chill ... "forget me not"

Feel me, feel my eyes watching over you
Here and near, darling, ever connected
And you cannot hide, you are affected
I know you know (quivering, shivering)
There's no letting go, there's no letting go
Footsteps lead wait as whisper lifts dreaming
Soul screaming infinite, devoted pine
Ever mine, Eventide, Valentine

You are mine
Ever mine, Eventide, Valentine

Dark Angel

Loving you is time ... to die for
Loving you is time ... I want more
Holding you is easy to rush
Holding you is hot candy-crush

Maybe people don't talk this way
But they're thinking things they won't say
(not me ... Angel Baby)
The world outside the window is untrue
I want to turn everything off ... but you

Sanctuary is in your eyes
The sanctuary day denies
Nightfall is you and private bliss
Nightfall brings my dark angel's kiss

Some people may not feel to say
But then, they're just dead anyway
(not me ... Angel Baby)
The world outside the window is askew
I want to turn everything off ... but you

Take me deep as the moonlight springs
Love, wrap me in your warm, black wings
The hours are endless before bright
Take me deep as the endless night

Wolf Song

New starlight glistens
Wise moon spell listens
Pack is restless and prowls
Pitch-dark unveils rise
Wild wakes midnight eyes
Illumination howls

There will be loyalty
There will be intensity
I will burn through you
And you will burn through me
Old souls will once again be
(Kindred)

Breeze carries bouquet
Closer ... circles bay
Shapeshifters throw shadows
Heartbeats stead mirror
Nearer and nearer
How deeply pulse echoes

She-wolf must find mate
Cold night must celebrate
Song will uplift its head
Breath will spray from mouths of red
And our deathless love will free
Old souls will once again be
(Kindred)

Moon spell never knows end
Timeless eyes ever suspend
Burning, glowing
Sweet blood flowing

Black Candle Night

Black candle night, reflecting fire
Beckoning lives the looking glass
The willing pose, souls transpire
Curious stares chant for your cast

The witching hour melts the wicks
Imagining your direction
Your riddled presence softly pricks
A blood rose, darkly connection

More ... your green, rocking eyes
More ... your crimson hair flies
Rise this black candle night

Peculiar lair
Emerald windows
Someone taps
Someone calls
A Westerly wind carries a song
Dedicated to you
Whispering Mary

Challenging all that is shady
With pale flesh and tresses alight
What is the way of it, lady ...
On this spellbound black candle night?

Carpathia

Carriages knock atop the cobblestone
Mist rouses and horse manes wave like banners
The coach riders know I journey alone
They peer, passing gothic statues and lanterns
And as melodic hooves march on their way
The dark speaks, befallen starless display,
"Come home, Carpathia ... stay
This night, Carpathia ... stay."

Black horizons drape the October field
Streets are mazes where the candlelight shies
Shutters slumber closed and doorways are chilled
Where night birds perch, rocking prophetic eyes
And as the birds take flight to find the moon
He calls from lost depths of the darkly noon,
"Come home, Carpathia ... soon
This night, Carpathia ... soon."

Velvet Crush

Alone
We were
Mid shadow falls
And the stardust
And the moon
Were dripping light
Silvery and serene
Illumination

And the trees
Were swaying
Cool and inviting
Captivation

Your arms
Encircled
Needing me
I felt safe in your embrace
Needing you

I imagined love
As cling wove heartbeat-mesh
Black lace lined soft-crunch press
And as your breath
Warm-whispered
With
Velvet crush

(c) Kay Irvin

Midnight Anthems

Fairly a rustle but of pen to paper
Some lyrics
Some melodic strokes
Interrupting the silence
Slit of the curtains
As sporadic lights
Pulse
Splitting shadowy corners
Frosted glass ... a sigh's exhale
And the hours pass by
Edge of the night
Edge of the pages
Turning

The tawny will soon come
But for now
Time still slowly revolves
Through stardust
